SONIC EXPLORERS – REMOTE SENSEING SOUNDSCAPES

Sonic Explorers takes students on a journey discovering the world of acoustic ecology with new technologies, science and creativity. Participants explored the rainforest soundscapes and learnt how we can monitor environmental changes through sound. Sonic Explorers selected recording locations and set up live streams in the rainforest. We listened to other rainforest live streams on a sound map and created graphic scores of our rainforest sound walks.

SONIC EXPLORERS WORKSHOPS

In this workshop, students learnt about the new technology and exciting science behind acoustic ecology and ecoacoustics. We explored sound walking and deep listening and learnt how all of our ears hear differently. We built a recording kit and went on an environmental field recording expedition in the rainforest with special microphones designed to mimic human ears.
